week 7

 Nick Moutos

    Social media is one of the most used tools in society today.  Social media has given everyone in the world the power to contact each-other within seconds.  Social media has both positive and negative affects on people and their professional lives.  Nick Moutos has experienced both of these effects and his actions on social media have led him down a dark path.  Nick Moutos is the former assistant attorney general and he was recently fired from that position due to his actions on twitter.  Moutos was using Twitter to promote a huge part of his campaign for the district election of Texas.  Many people went back through his timeline while he was campaigning for the election, and they found old tweets that are socially unacceptable. Many of his past tweets were attacking minorities and had content involving racial slurs.  The Office of the Attorney General Immediately terminated him and his relations with them.  Now Nick Moutos is unemployed and his actions on social media will haunt him forever.  The disgusting posts he published to society will be on the internet forever and there is nothing he can do to fix those actions.



Chapter 4 & 5

    The book "Light Bright and Polite", is a book that gives advice on how to conduct yourself on social media as a professional.  In chapter 4, the author explains to the reader how to properly time and schedule posts on social media.  This way, your viewers to not become overwhelmed with posts.  The best way to find out what time your customers will be reading your posts is by asking them and figuring out what time and day they are most active on social media.  This way you can post your most important posts on the days that your customers will be available.  The author highly recommends that. anyone with a large following and an audience, should make a spread sheet. and plan out a week of posts in advanced.  This way you don't have to stress about what you should post to the public and you can be on time with your information.  

    Chapter 5 talks about how to avoid using bubble talk as a company and how to get your viewers engaged.  Bubble talk is a a from of phrases and language that you use all the time, but your customers and followers don't understand it.  As a result, the bubble talk eventually drives away all your customers because they can no longer understand what you are trying to communicate to them.  To avoid using bubble talk, the company can refrain from using vague statements and ideas.  The author explains that the most successful way that big companies grow their customers is by finding a way for the customers to engage with the company.  One of the best ways to obtain engagement is by asking the customers questions that can't be answered with yes or no.  You have to find a question that will have the customers emotionally attached to their answers.  The author promises that if you use this advice, your company and your social media following will grow tremendously.
